Mack Trucks announced it will offer Mack CommandView, a suite of onboard technologies designed to support safety, operational efficiency and digital capabilities for fleet operators. Mack made the announcement at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2026, held March 3-7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
CommandView, a situational awareness system designed to reduce blind spots and support maneuverability in work environments, will be available for order on the Mack Granite model in late 2027.
Situational Awareness and Safety Technology
“Mack customers told us about the challenges they face on jobsites, including blind spots and maneuvering around vehicles and objects,” said Nicole Portello, senior vice president and chief digital officer of Mack Trucks. “We listened to customer input and developed technology designed to support safety and productivity.”
The system includes a 360-degree camera setup that provides visibility around the truck, helping drivers navigate congested jobsites, tight urban corridors and loading areas. Multiple camera feeds are combined into a bird’s-eye view intended to reduce blind spots caused by vehicle height, long hoods and vocational body configurations.
Angled side-view cameras activate with turn signals to improve lateral visibility during lane changes and turning. The system is designed to help reduce the risk of side-swipe incidents and contact with pedestrians, equipment or property.
Mack piloted CommandView with CRH, a building materials company and Mack customer, in early 2025.
“Safety is the No. 1 priority at CRH,” said Sam Dougherty, fleet manager of the Mid-South Region’s Architectural Product Group. “Any tool we can give drivers to help them operate more safely is valuable.”
CommandView also integrates with vehicle controls, adjusting camera views based on gear selection to support forward, rear and side visibility. Optional features include visual and audible alerts that activate when a person or object is detected within certain ranges.
The system combines sensor data with camera feeds and stores event-based video recordings in the cloud for fleet review. Additional features include overload alerts and compliance tools designed to help protect equipment and reduce unplanned maintenance.
“Safety, uptime and predictability are central to our customers’ operations,” said Ashish Sadhu, Mack director of services. “CommandView combines sensing technology with driver-focused design.”
Load Management and Connected Fleet Capabilities
CommandView also includes an onboard weighing system compatible with all axle configurations, providing real-time load data. The system is designed to help operators manage payloads while maintaining compliance with weight regulations.
Integrated navigation is designed to support compliant routing, potentially reducing detours to weigh stations and improving operational efficiency.
The system also provides in-cab payload information and roof-mounted LED indicators to support coordination between drivers and loader operators. Digital job summaries capture cycle data, timestamps and payload information, providing operational records for fleet management.
