Terramac saw a great deal of success with the 360-degree rotating RT14R crawler carrier it released in 2017. More recently, the company saw a need for a smaller unit with a smaller footprint, so it released its RT7R crawler carrier, also built with an upper frame that rotates a full 360 degrees.

Matt Slater, the company’s vice president of business development, said the RT7R is a strong fit for government entities that require equipment for low ground pressure-type areas. Common applications include shoreline restoration, protected wetlands, and other environmentally sensitive areas.

In addition, Slater said, “This is a very good unit for urban or rural-type applications because of its small footprint.”

Built to Navigate Tight Spaces

The RT7R features a 165-hp Cummins B4.5 Performance Series Tier 4 Final engine, along with Terramac’s rubber track technology. With flotation from the unit’s rubber tracks and a fully loaded ground pressure of 5.5 psi, the RT7R can travel lightly in adverse ground conditions and rapidly climb rugged terrain.

The crawler carrier can reach remote areas while minimizing environmental damage and land restoration costs.

The RT7R can carry and dump up to 14,000 lbs. of material at any position, even while driving. With that functionality, it can offload materials faster than a standard straight frame crawler carrier because the tracks do not need to be counter-rotated to drive another direction.

The RT7R works in tight spaces and environmentally sensitive areas such as railroad track right-of-way access; rivers and levees; and for general earthmoving, site prep, and utility jobsites.

A heavy-duty rock bed on the RT7R helps boost hauling efficiency for moving dirt, brush, or rugged materials such as rip rap.
