Bandit Industries’ new Model ZT1844 track-mounted stump grinder is compact enough to get into tight corners but powerful enough to make quick work of large, dense tree stumps, according to the company.

Designed for Operator Ease of Use

The Model ZT1844 is equipped with an 18-inch-diameter Bandit cutterwheel featuring Greenteeth, a tooth and pocket system that lets operators rotate each tooth to a new edge using only a standard wrench. It’s as simple as flipping a switch to engage the cutterwheel. And the rubber track undercarriage allows the machine to travel through uneven and rough terrain when needed, the manufacturer said. At 29 inches wide, the machine is also easier to fit through narrow gates compared to other stump grinders.

The Model ZT1844 was designed with the operator in mind, providing exceptional visibility, tight controls, and durability, according to Bandit.

“The ZT1844 is designed from the ground up to outperform all other stump grinders in its class,” said Jason Morey, Bandit sales manager. “The wider swing arc covers more area when grinding at the stump. The taller grinding height and deeper grinding depth mean you can tackle larger stumps and chase the roots deeper into the ground. And intuitive controls make grinding stumps easy, no matter if you’re a seasoned professional or a rental customer.”

The machine is available with two engine options: a standard 26-hp Kohler gasoline engine or a 38-hp version. Both feature electronic fuel injection so they’re easy to start — even on a cold morning, Morey said.

The stump grinder’s compact design belies its true grinding power, according to Bandit.

Surprisingly Powerful While Cutting

“The grinder really performs,” said Matt Gilmet, owner of M&M Stump Removal in Midland, Mich. “It has a lot of power in a small package. I was surprised at how quickly it would cut. It sailed through the stumps.”

Gilmet, a longtime stump grinding professional, recently used the ZT1844 on a municipal job and a residential job on the same day.

Municipalities can purchase the Model ZT1844 through Bandit’s National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) contract.

“Our partnership with NJPA makes it so municipal customers can skip the costly bidding process to purchase the equipment they need and go right to ordering their equipment,” Morey said.
