The City of Little Rock, Ark. has named a new director of Fleet Services. Willie Hinton was appointed to the position to replace Wendell Jones, who retired May 31.
“I am excited to bring Willie on board to continue the great work of his predecessor, Wendell. His background in operations management and logistics made him the ideal candidate for this position,” City Manager Bruce Moore stated in a release.
Hinton has nearly three decades of experience in supply chain management, logistics, and operations management. Most recently, he worked as the business unit manager for planning, scheduling, and distribution at a private company.
“I have made a career of out improving upon others' good works over the years,” Hinton said. “I will bring new eyes to the great work that Mr. Jones has done over the years by applying the Plan, Do, Check and Act methodology for process and systemic improvements.”
His goals in his first year includes “getting the systems right, treating people right, and staying out of the proverbial box,” he said.
The Little Rock fleet consists of about 1,200 vehicles.
