Little Rock Fleet Director to Retire

March 17, 2016

City of Little Rock (Ark.) Fleet Director Wendell Jones has announced he will be retiring in June.

Jones has worked in the Fleet Services Department for 13 years and at the city for 41 years. As fleet director, Jones is responsible for 1,300 units as well as three maintenance facilities and one storage facility. He oversees procurement, city transportation code, maintenance and repairs, purchasing and replacements, fuel services, and issuance of insurance.

Jones’ accomplishments at the city include the implementation of the vehicle storage facility in 1996, the opening of the only CNG station in Little Rock in 2014, and recognition for several years among the Leading Fleets and 100 Best Fleets.

“It is the staff’s commitment, dedication, and hard work throughout these years that has allowed Fleet Services to continue its theme of ‘Keeping Little Rock Rolling,’ ” Jones said.

Jones’ last day is June 1. He plans to spend more time with his family, work on his cars, and cycle and golf.

No information about his replacement is available at this time.
