Robert Gordon, deputy director of fleet management for DeKalb County, Georgia, was presented with the Legendary Lifetime Achievement Award at the Government Fleet Expo and Conference (GFX).
Andy Campbell of Sourcewell presented the award.
Gordon was chosen by the industry among all the Public Fleet Hall of Fame inductees. The award is sponsored by Sourcewell.
During his acceptance speech he said, "Most everybody in this room started out under a car or truck somewhere, and now we are here today. Go out, get involved with your local tech schools and high schools. Get involved with the programs they have and try to encourage young people to get into this industry."
Gordon has spent 34 years in the fleet industry. He is on the board of directors for Clean Cities Georgia and has won numerous fleet awards during his career. He serves on advisory committees at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, Warren Tech, Southern Crescent Tech, Whitfield County Career Academy, and Atlanta Metropolitan College. Gordon is an active member in many organizations, including NAFA, Georgia Motor Trucking Association, American Public Works Association, Georgia Municipal Association, Southeast Diesel Collaborative, and Southeast Governmental Fleet Managers Association.
