Terramac has paired its RT6 rubber tracked crawler carrier with a Stellar 84-10 hooklift, noting that the combination works well for government projects related to erosion control, natural disaster cleanup, landfill operations, fire suppression, flood control, and forestry.
Rubber tracks provide operators with traction for working on slick, rugged or steep terrain, which the company says makes the carriers useful in off-road applications. Hooklifts expand the carrier’s capabilities and provide ground level loading and unloading. That allows contractors to quickly interchange bed styles, containers, tool cribs, and specialty equipment such as debris collection systems and hydroseeding units.
The combined versatility and automation help operators take on multiple tasks with a single unit, resulting in increased productivity and reduce manpower and cost.
Terramac marketing manager Monica Coenen said the idea for the combination started with its dealer in Hawaii that was looking for equipment that could assist on multiple projects subject to challenging terrain.
“Previously, much of the interchangeability had to be done through a bolt-on, bolt-off system that required shop tooling and manpower,” Coenen said. “With a hooklift, you don’t need any of that. The operator controls the hoist from within the cab.”
Cab controls are not only more efficient but boost operator safety while picking up, unloading, and transporting.
Terramac launched a debris collection system for use with the hooklift that is geared toward trash cleanup at landfills. The debris collection system offers 22,000 CFM of suction to collect and a 28-inch impeller fan to mulch windblown trash and debris stuck along fence lines. The unit is equipped to collect items ranging from plastic bags to full two-liter bottles of soda.
