Spartan Motors USA is recalling 141 2012-2013 model-year Gladiator and MetroStar emergency vehicles because the front splay rails may crack and separate.
As a result, the cab might collapse when it’s raised, increasing the risk of injury to those nearby, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
Spartan is still developing a remedy for the problem, but the recall is expected to get under way this month, NHTSA said.
Vehicle owners affected by this recall can reach Spartan customer service at (517) 543-6400. The company's number for the recall is 15019.
