The City of San Diego has implemented CalAmp's vehicle tracking system GovOutlook across its fleet of approximately 4,000 vehicles to increase efficiency and productivity, the company has announced.
The city's Fleet Services Division implemented GovOutlook, which is a GPS vehicle tracking system that integrates with the city's Esri GIS-based map and utility assets data to provides real-time and historical views of vehicles and other mobile resources across city departments.
"CalAmp's GovOutlook solution has enabled the refuse and recycling program to manage its vehicles and mobile assets with increased efficiency and productivity," said Mary Valerio, the city's deputy environmental services director. "Not only does the system improve the ability of our field supervisors to manage large numbers of crews, but also helps us provide improved services to the citizens of San Diego."
The real-time data provided through GovOutlook has allowed city departments to more effectively manage their operations and requests for service, according to CalAmp.
In addition, GovOutlook collects information from various mechanisms installed on city vehicles such as street sweeper brooms, and provides that information in relation to a specific street address, parcel, customer, route or other landmarks.
