CONCORD, NH - Governor John Lynch signed a bill July 31 that will make it illegal to text message while driving in New Hampshire starting January 1, reported the Nashua Telegraph. Both the House and Senate passed the bill.
In addition to text messaging, anyone found typing on any electronic device with two hands while driving must pay a $100 fine. The acts of entering a phone number or selecting a number to make a phone call are exempt.
Currently, 16 states and the District of Columbia ban text messaging for all drivers, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association.
