The College Station (Texas) Fire Department's new engine adds some school spirit. The truck stands out from the regular blue-and-white fleet, with a paint job that pays homage to Texas A&M University, which is located within city limits. 

Featuring a maroon ladder, the Texas A&M University logo, and the words “Fearless On Every Front,” CSFD’s new truck gives a nod to the university at the center of the city it serves. The Texas A&M-branded truck was rolled out for the first time in late May.

The truck replaced an aging vehicle and has been in service for about a month. It carries 50 gallons of water and is staffed by a three-person crew. The maroon ladder stretches 107 feet when fully extended, making it the tallest ladder in the city.

Carter Hall, the department’s public information officer, said the idea for a maroon truck came from Chief Jonathan McMahan, who was hired in 2017. The design came out of collaboration with Texas A&M System and University officials.

“It’s been great. We get positive comments all the time on how the truck looks, and it’s another way to engage and connect with the community than just responding to emergencies,” McMahan said of the reaction to the maroon truck.
