The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's fleet manager has begun discussing measures to thwart vehicle hackers and has floated a policy that could be implemented when technology becomes available, reports the Journal Star.
Patrick Barrett, director of the university's Transportation Services department, proposed ways to protect the 825-vehicle fleet including installing anti-virus software once it becomes available, capping on-board diagnostic system ports, disabling Bluetooth from devices, replacing certain systems with after-market equipment that operates independently, and scanning vehicle computers regularly.
