Public sector fleet managers, are your vehicles included in the latest recalls? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced recalls in the month of July that impact vehicles common in government fleets. Here's a roundup of some of the recalls.

Daimler Vans: Loss of Drive Power from Fuel Pump Shutdown

Daimler Vans is recalling certain 2021 Freightliner Sprinter, 2021-2022 Mercedes-Benz Metris, and 2021-2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles. The recall affects an estimated 20,000+ vehicles. The fuel pump may shutdown, which can result in a loss of drive power.

Dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2023. 

Hino Trucks: Driver-Side Front Axle U-Bolts May Come Loose

Hino Trucks is recalling certain trucks because the driver-side U-bolts that secure the front axle to the leaf spring assembly may come loose and detach. The vehicles included in the recall are the following 2022-2023 models:

• NE7A.

• NE7B. 

• NJ7A.

• NJ7B.

• NV7A.

• NV7B.

Dealers will tighten the front axle U-bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 15, 2023.

Nissan Leafs: Unintended Acceleration

Nissan is recalling certain 2018-2023 LEAF vehicles. The vehicle may accelerate unintentionally if thedriving mode is changed ("D" to "B"; e-Pedal "On"; or "ECO" mode) after disengaging the cruise control. The recall affects an estimated 66,000 vehicles.

Dealers will reprogram the vehicle control module (VCM), free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2023.

Tesla Models: Seat Belt Detachments and Misaligned Cameras

Tesla is recalling certain 2021-2023 Model S and Model X vehicles. The front-row seat belts may not be connected properly to the pretensioner anchors, which can cause the seat belts to detach.

Tesla Service will inspect the front-row seat belts and connect the seat belts to pretensioner anchors, or replace the seat belt assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 12, 2023.

Additionally, Tesla is recalling certain 2023 Model S, Model X, and Model Y vehicles. The forward-facing camera may be misaligned, causing some of the active safety features such as emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane assist to become unavailable without alerting the driver.

Tesla Service will inspect and adjust the pitch angle, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters for this recall are also expected to be mailed September 12, 2023.
