Government Fleet Forms Collaborative Agreement with American Public Works Association
The alliance brings together the two leading organizations dedicated to serving public sector fleet and public works professionals in North America.

Government Fleet magazine and the American Public Works Association (APWA) are forming a collaborative agreement aimed at coordinating their solutions and resources to benefit public fleets.
The alliance brings together the two leading organizations dedicated to serving public sector fleet and public works professionals in North America.
“This collaboration will allow Government Fleet and APWA to coordinate efforts on education, events, tools, and innovative solutions. This is a natural fit and will greatly enhance our ability to serve public fleets,” said Eric Bearly, publisher of Government Fleet.
“APWA is excited to work with Government Fleet magazine and looks forward to a great relationship that will provide many positive opportunities for the fleet community,” said David Dancy, marketing director, APWA.

Benefiting Fleets
Both organizations will have a benefitting and planning presence at the other’s annual conferences, the Government Fleet Expo and Conference (GFX) and the newly branded Public Works Expo (PFX). APWA will also co-sponsor the Leading Fleets award and the Public Sector Fleet Hall of Fame award.
One of the biggest takeaways of this connection for public fleet managers is Government Fleet’s stronger dedication to enhancing the visibility and awareness of APWA’s certification program, the Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) certification. The CPFP certification is for the seasoned public fleet manager and for those professionals who supervise, manage, oversee, or administer fleet services within or for a public fleet entity. The purpose of the certification is to promote excellence in fleet management by advancing the knowledge and practice of public fleet professionals to benefit their communities through quality fleet services. Since its inception, about 100 U.S. and Canadian fleet professionals have received the CPFP.
In addition to these changes, both organizations will work together on new opportunities in the future that will benefit the public fleet industry.
The APWA has 28,600 members, 20% of which have a responsibility in public fleet services. The association produces 15 fleet publications, two annual conferences, various webcasts and fleet workshops, a fleet professional award, and the public fleet manager certification program.
Government Fleet reaches a base of 28,000 subscribers and publishes eight print magazines annually and three electronic newsletters weekly. The brand offers the annual Government Fleet Expo & Conference; various webcasts and regional workshops; a rich library of fleet documents; FleetShare, an online public fleet social network; and various industry awards for individuals and entire organizations. It also offers a certification for public fleet departments.
