Ford Resumes Production of F-150 Lightning After Vehicle Recall
Ford previously recalled 18 F-150 Lightnings after identifying a potential battery cell defect after a truck battery fire halted production of the vehicle back in February.

Ford has resumed production of its F-150 Lightning after a recall was sent out for 18 trucks due to what the company identified as a possible battery cell defect.
A Ford spokesperson stated that production of the F-150 resumed Monday, March 13, at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan with clean stock of battery packs.
The 18 trucks recalled had already been delivered to dealers and customers before production was stopped. The vehicles were reported to have been built during the same four-week period in 2022 at Ford battery supplier SK On’s plant in Georgia.
The initial recall was the result of an F-150 Lightning battery catching fire during a standard quality check at a Ford facility on February 4. Following the incident, Ford issued a stop-build and stop-ship order for the F-150 Lightning while it investigated the issue.
In December 2022, Ford reported that sales of its electric vehicles were up 126% for the year and up 223% for December.
