Ram announced the 2027 Ram 2500 Emergency Response Vehicle, a 3/4-ton truck designed for law enforcement, fire, rescue, and emergency response agencies. The vehicle is engineered to support towing and hauling while meeting operational demands for emergency response.
The Emergency Response Vehicle package builds on the Ram 2500 Special Service Vehicle with additional performance components, underbody protection, and provisions for communications equipment. It is the first 3/4-ton truck to complete Michigan State Police (MSP) vehicle trials.
The 2027 Ram 2500 Emergency Response Vehicle will be available to fleets in the second half of 2026.
Performance and Engineering
The vehicle is powered by a 6.4-liter V-8 engine producing 405 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a heavy-duty eight-speed automatic transmission. A 4.10 axle ratio, anti-spin differential, and selectable two-speed transfer case support traction and acceleration.
In MSP testing, the vehicle recorded:
- 0-60 mph in 8.41 seconds
- 0-80 mph in 13.22 seconds
- 0-100 mph in 20.5 seconds
- Top speed of 103 mph (tire-limited)
Testing also included acceleration benchmarks, repeated ABS braking evaluations, and completion of 32 laps at Grattan Raceway without major component failure. Additional testing evaluated ergonomics, durability, and handling under high-speed conditions.
Durability and Fleet Integration
The Emergency Response Vehicle includes components designed for field use, such as a transfer-case skid plate and 18-inch steel wheels. Dual alternators rated at 400 amps provide electrical capacity for auxiliary equipment.
A vehicle systems interface module, auxiliary switches, and dedicated wiring circuits support installation of communications and emergency equipment. The column-mounted shifter allows additional space for in-cab equipment.
The vehicle uses a five-link coil rear suspension system to support handling and stability under load.
Law Enforcement Portfolio
The Ram 2500 Emergency Response Vehicle expands Stellantis’ law enforcement lineup, which includes the Dodge Durango Pursuit, Jeep Grand Wagoneer Command Operations Vehicle, and Ram Special Service Vehicles.
