The City of Sioux Falls, S.D., is abolishing its Central Services Department, which oversees fleet management, and moving fleet management back to the Public Works Department. The centralized fleet had been under Public Works until about a year and half ago, said Fleet Manager Morgan Jackson.

Central Services’ other functions are moving to other departments, and the city will establish a new Innovation and Technology Department, the Argus Leader reported.

Jackson said the move does not affect fleet management.

“We’re just going back to the way it was,” he said.

The fleet consists of 400 vehicles and pieces of equipment. It dispenses 365,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 421,000 gallons of unleaded fuel annually, according to the city website.
