Palm Beach County, Fla., has promoted Sara Burnam, CAFM, assistant director, fleet management, to director. She was promoted as of Feb. 9, taking over for Doug Weichman, CAFM, who was named fleet management director for the City of Gainesville, Fla.
As director of fleet management, Burnam oversees 4,300 on- and off-road vehicles and equipment, a staff of 54, three maintenance facilities, and 14 fuel sites. Responsibilities include budgeting, managing the vehicle replacement and preventive maintenance programs, establishing specs for procurement, ensuring compliance of the fleet management program by all departments, and acting as a liaison to customer departments.
Burnam worked at an auto service center before joining the Ohio State Patrol fleet. In 2015, she was hired at Palm Beach County to work with Weichman as part of the county’s succession plan.
“I am so excited about this opportunity. The former director, Doug Weichman, was a great mentor and implemented an exceptional program. While he left some extremely big shoes to fill, I am excited about the opportunity to further develop the program,” Burnam said.
