2024 Government Fleet Vehicle Sales Up from 2023 Numbers

December government fleet sales came in at 21,031 vehicles last month, which was a 4.2% decrease from 21,963 vehicles sold in December 2023.

With government fleet sales rounding out the year at 274,220 vehicles sold, 2024 saw a 0.7% increase from the 272,403 vehicles sold in 2023.

December data from automakers' reports showed that while government vehicles sales were up YTD, the month's numbers were not above average compared to the rest of the year. December monthly total sales were at 21,031, which was up from November (18,347 monthly total sales) but were lower compared to October sales (23,564 monthly total sales). 

Numbers Drop from December 2023 to December 2024

December government fleet sales came in at 21,031 vehicles last month, which was a 4.2% decrease from 21,963 vehicles sold in December 2023 [Hyundai, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota sales numbers were not present for government fleets during these periods].

Car sales saw the most significant shift going from 1,060 monthly total sales in 2023 to 203 sales in December of 2024. Trucks and SUV sales had a less significant change only dropping 0.4%, a difference of only 75 more vehicles sold in December of 2023 compared to December of 2024. 

Breaking Down Numbers YTD

Looking at numbers YTD, car sales had the most noticeable change going from 20,584 vehicles sold in 2023 to 6,768 vehicles sold in 2024, a 67.1% decrease. 

Truck and SUVs sales had a 6.2% increase compared to 2023 YTD

— there were 251,819 truck and SUV vehicles sold in 2023 and 267,452 vehicles sold in 2024.
