SEARCHSALT LAKE CITY - Margaret Chambers, the fleet director hit by a wave and paralyzed from the waist down, remains in Hawaii and will be in rehabilitation until May 11.
SALT LAKE CITY - Margaret Chambers, Utah's director of Fleet Operations and Surplus Services who became paralyzed from the waist down after being hit by a wave while vacationing in Hawaii, is currently in rehabilitation, according to Sam Lee, deputy director.
Lee has been taking on Chambers' duties in her absence, acting as division director.
Chambers is still currently in Hawaii and will be in rehabilitation until May 11, he told Government Fleet.
"Margaret has been able to access the Web site [www.margaretchambers.org] and read all the comments and words of encouragement from friends and colleagues in the industry," said Lee. "It's helpful for her to hear from friends in fleet."
At this point, Chambers' full recovery from her injuries is still unknown, said Lee. However, her doctors and family remain hopeful.
Chambers' family members are in Hawaii with her.
