Pierce Manufacturing is recalling 185 2008-2011 model-year Quantum fire trucks because of faulty accelerator pedal springs, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.
The mechanical springs that return the accelerator pedal to idle after the driver’s foot lifts off the pedal is at risk for breaking, NHTSA said. A stuck pedal can lead to unintended acceleration.
The recall, set to begin in January, affects fire apparatus manufactured from Feb. 21, 2008, to April 25, 2011. Vehicle owners can reach Pierce customer service at (888) 974-3723. Pierce's number for this recall is 74B25.
