Titusville to Get 15 New Police Vehicles
TITUSVILLE, FL - Ten of the new vehicles will be used for patrol, two for the K-9 unit, two for the crime-scene investigations unit, and one for criminal investigations.
TITUSVILLE, FL - The Titusville City Council approved the purchase of 15 new police vehicles for $472,172 on June 1, according to Florida Today.
The 15 vehicles will replace models 2006 or older, which all but one have at least 73,000 miles on them. Ten of the new vehicles would be used for patrol, two for the K-9 unit, two for the crime-scene investigations unit and one for criminal investigations.
Titusville has about 50 marked and 25 unmarked police vehicles, according to Police Chief Tony Bollinger, Florida Today reported.
The city council asked City Manager Mark Ryan to explore the possibility of using a local car dealer as a source for the new vehicles, if costs can match or be lower than what the city has been paying though a statewide police vehicle purchase program, reported Florida Today.
