SEARCHST. CHARLES, MO - County Executive Steve Ehlmann recently signed an executive order banning county employees from texting while driving a county-owned vehicle or personal vehicle and claiming mileage reimbursement.
ST. CHARLES, MO - St. Charles County employees driving a county-owned vehicle, or personal vehicle and claiming mileage reimbursement, are banned from texting, according to an executive order signed March 12 by County Executive Steve Ehlmann.
Ehlmann said the county currently has more than 1,000 employees and many are required to drive to various locations, either using a county vehicle or a personal vehicle.
Sending text messages while driving is not safe for the employees or others on the roads, Ehlmann said in a statement.
"We have a lot of cars and trucks out there every day," Ehlmann said. "This is just a reminder that we need to practice safe driving."
