The County of San Diego, Calif., has promoted John Manring from fleet coordinator to chief, departmental operations fleet. He was promoted in February.
The fleet division manages 4,400 vehicles ranging from lawn mowers to fire apparatus and law enforcement vehicles. The fleet services 30 different client departments. The division consists of 70 employees, including 37 technicians, spread out across eight maintenance locations. It also has five mobile maintenance trucks.
Planned projects within the fleet division for the upcoming years include the construction of three new satellite maintenance facilities following the recently completed construction of its main fleet facility, continued efforts to convert to plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, and updating OEM diagnostic capabilities for all eight facilities, Manring said.
Manring replaces Sharyl Blackington, who resigned last year.
