RTA: The Fleet Success Company announced the winners of its inaugural Fleet Success Awards, recognizing five customer fleets that are proving what successful fleet operations look like through measurable results, strong processes, and intentional leadership. The winners were announced on stage at RTA Connect 2026 in Chicago.

“Every fleet manager wants to know if what they’re doing is actually working,” said Josh Turley, CEO of RTA: The Fleet Success Company. “The Fleet Success Awards give us a way to hold up five fleets that stopped guessing and proved it, both in their numbers and in how they run their operations every day.”

Most Successful Fleet: Town of Queen Creek, Arizona

The Town of Queen Creek, Arizona, received the inaugural Most Successful Fleet award for strong performance across all four pillars. Queen Creek keeps 79% of its maintenance work scheduled, well above the 70% industry benchmark, logs 81% of technician hours as direct labor, and maintains 97.6% on-time PM compliance, beating its 95% target.

Those results are backed by disciplined risk management, including DVIR documentation tied to every unit, certification and license tracking, standardized VMRS coding, and a test database that validates system changes before production; and an engaged culture spanning Public Works leadership, fleet supervisors, mechanics, parts specialists, and IT.

The team has integrated Geotab data to reduce manual processes, and continued leadership investment has supported fleet growth from 779 to 804 licensed assets.

Stakeholder Satisfaction: City of Frisco, Texas

The City of Frisco, Texas, received the Stakeholder Satisfaction award for making fleet information more visible and useful across the organization. Since August 2024, the city has built a user base of 43 active contacts across six departments (Fleet Services, Fire, IT, Logistics, Purchasing, and Administration) giving each direct access to the data and workflows that affect their work.

Frisco communicates performance through dashboards and custom SQL reports, benchmarks against 100 Best Fleets standards, and has invested in Fleet Replacement Analysis to support capital planning. Its IT team is also building an API integration with PSD Citywide, the city’s enterprise asset management platform, extending fleet data beyond the fleet department.

Risk Management: South Bend Public Transportation Company (Transpo)

South Bend Public Transportation Company, or Transpo, received the Risk Management award for disciplined maintenance and data practices that keep an aging fleet safe, compliant, and in service.

Transpo reports 94.4% on-time preventive maintenance compliance on a fleet averaging more than 14 years old and closes 83% of work orders within 24 hours, beating the 80% industry benchmark. During its transition to RTA Fleet360, the team carefully evaluated potential impacts to compliance, data integrity, and operational continuity before making changes.

Intentional Culture: Lehi City, Utah

Lehi City, Utah, received the Intentional Culture award for building a stable fleet team around retention, recognition, accountability, training, and two-way communication.

The department reported zero employee turnover for more than two years despite a lean staffing model of roughly 98 assets per technician. Lehi supports that stability with Awardco peer-to-peer recognition, public recognition in front of city leadership, and quarterly one-on-one meetings that create a regular forum for two-way feedback.

The fleet has also set a 40-hour annual training goal per employee and is improving how those hours are tracked.

Resource Efficiency: DATTCO, Inc.

DATTCO, a New England transportation company, received the Resource Efficiency award for improving efficiency across a complex, multi-facility operation of 2,099 active motorcoach, school bus, and maintenance assets. The fleet maintains 94.98% average availability across that mix and logs 84% of technician hours as direct labor, above the 74–79% industry benchmark.

Cross-facility permission controls protect cost accuracy across a 45-mechanic workforce, while an EFI integration with FuelForce and Corpay automates fuel transaction processing and meter updates. DATTCO has also assigned dedicated business-analysis support to fleet technology initiatives.

“We built the Fleet Success Awards around the same four pillars we use to help fleets benchmark their own performance: resource efficiency, intentional culture, risk management, and stakeholder satisfaction,” said Marc Canton, VP of Fleet Strategy at RTA Fleet. “To keep the judging honest, we brought in five former fleet managers who know this work firsthand, and every nomination was evaluated blind. What stood out this year wasn’t just strong metrics. It was fleets that used their data to actually change how they operate.”
