The City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, is pushing back its automated refuse and recycling program because of delivery delays of its new trucks. The vehicles were expected to be delivered in December, Cleveland.com reported.

The city ordered six Heil automated front loaders mounted on AutoCar chassis. According to city council documents, the vendor said chassis delivery had been delayed a second time and Heil could not commit to a delivery time until the chassis arrive.

In a letter provided to city council, the VP of operations and supply chain for Environmental Solutions Group (parent company of Heil), wrote that while there have been challenges across all commodities, hydraulics and electronics supplies have been most challenging.

Last fall, the city’s Public Works director warned that current refuse vehicles were in bad shape and needed to be replaced, according to the newspaper.
