
Jim Chiles, superintendent of fleet service for the City of Lincoln, Neb., will retire on August 31. He began his career with the city 44 years ago as a fleet technician.
During his tenure, he has held the positions of technician, garage supervisor, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. He was present during three major consolidations, fleet growth from 314 units in 1973 to a very diversified fleet of 985 presently, the switch to an internal service fund, implementation of a rental rate system, development of a replacement fund, and full automation and integration of seven remote fuel facilities.
