N.J. Township Loses Refuse Trucks in Fire
A fire began in a fire truck owned by the Mantua Township in New Jersey before spreading to other trucks parked in the town's public works lot.

The Mantua Township in New Jersey lost five fire trucks after one of the trucks caught on fire.
Fire Chief Brian Hauss told New Jersey 101.5 that an officer discovered the fire after hearing explosions caused by the truck’s tires, hydraulics, and diesel fuel. A gusty wind caused the fire to spread to four other trucks and three small utility vehicles parked in the same lot.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the trucks and prevent the fire to from reaching two 500-gallon fuel tanks holding diesel and gasoline nearby, according to NJ.com. The blaze was placed under control within an hour, but firefighters did have to cut locks on the vehicles to douse the burning garbage inside the trucks.
The fire is under investigation, but a news release from Deputy Mayor Bob Zimmerman notes that the fire appears to be non-suspicious in nature.
