Mich. City Hiring Automotive, Heavy Equipment Technicians

The City of Troy, Mich., is seeking an automotive and a heavy equipment technician to fill its afternoon shift.

The automotive technician will be responsible for mechanical work on tractors, mowers, backhoes, loaders, graders, vehicle diagnostics, drivability and electrical system troubleshooting, and installation and removal of emergency lighting and radio equipment. Candidates must be a high school or mechanic trade school graduate and have two years of current full-time paid experience as an automotive light- to medium-size truck mechanic or technician. The employer prefers a total of four years of experience and for the candidate to have Master State of Michigan and master ASE Automobile Certification.

The heavy equipment technician will be responsible for high level truck and heavy equipment repair, welding, fabricating, vehicle diagnostics, electrical system troubleshooting, and installation and removal of emergency lighting and radio equipment. This role will also provide training and supervision to other employees. Requirements for eligible candidates are a high school or trade school degree, five years of recent full-time paid work experience performing medium and heavy equipment repair, and experience as a supervisor. Candidates with a State of Michigan and ASE Master Medium/Heavy Truck Certification, and knowledge of principles of gasoline and diesel equipment operation and heavy equipment repair methods, will be taken into further consideration.
