GAITHERSBURG, MD – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded a GSA Logistics Worldwide Services Schedule (LogWorld) contract to Mercury Associates, Inc., an independent fleet management consulting company in North America. Mercury Associates’ services under LogWorld are designed to help increase efficiency and reduce the costs associated with the acquisition, allocation, utilization, maintenance, and management of vehicles and equipment. Federal agencies worldwide can use LogWorld to procure logistics and fleet management consulting and support services. The estimated value of the contract is $2.5 million over five years.

The LogWorld Schedule includes pre-negotiated rates and reduces the lead time and administrative costs for government organizations to contract with industry experts. Under the LogWorld Schedule, government agencies can utilize Mercury Associates’ distribution, transportation, and fleet management consulting capabilities for services ranging from agency-wide strategic studies and maintenance plans to more focused projects, such as information system implementation or vehicle utilization and allocation analyses.

In addition to consulting services, Mercury Associates helps government organizations meet their short and long-term fleet staffing needs by supplying experienced fleet management staff to support their operations. Services include analyzing, reporting, evaluating, planning, and implementing strategies and tactics for managing government transportation networks, supply chains, acquisitions, deployment, operations, and maintenance. For more information on LogWorld services, visit www.gsa.gov/logworld.

Mercury Associates recently assisted GSA, NASA, the U.S. Marine Corps, the Smithsonian Institution, and other agencies with their efforts to make significant management improvements to the growing federal fleet, which increased approximately 6 percent from 2000 to 2005. Mercury Associates is currently conducting a comprehensive analysis of fleet management functions at the State Department, including vehicles and equipment, operations, and administration and management for all State Department foreign and domestic fleet programs, and owned and leased vehicles. Mercury will provide a plan for improvement based on the results of its vehicle fleet management study.
