McNeilus, Oshkosh Recall CNG Trucks for Fire Risk
The McNeilus recall affects 365 refuse and concrete mixer trucks, and the Oshkosh recall covers 33 S-Series concrete mixers.

McNeilus and Oshkosh are recalling certain trucks that run on compressed natural gas, so their dealers can inspect, and replace if needed, the CNG pressure relief devices.
The McNeilus recall affects 365 CNG refuse and concrete mixer trucks, and the Oshkosh recall covers 33 S-Series concrete mixer trucks, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
In these vehicles, Emcara pressure relief devices (PRDs) may fail to vent a buildup of pressure. “If the PRD does not activate in the event of a buildup of pressure, the CNG tank may explode, increasing the risk of fire and injury,” NHTSA said.
The recalls are expected to get under way this month.
The McNeilus 2014-2015 model-year trucks were manufactured from July 30, 2014, to July 10 of this year. The Oshkosh 2014-2015-MY trucks were manufactured from July 16, 2014, to June 30 of this year.
