Maryland Transportation Authority's New Mobile Command Post to Be Showcased at Security Expo
BALTIMORE – A customized mobile command post built by LDV, Inc., has been delivered for use by the State of Maryland Transportation Authority. It will be the centerpiece of LDV's booth at this year's Government Security Expo and Conference scheduled to take place at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center Apr. 26-27. The command center will be utilized for disaster event coordination and communications, as well as planned crowd control situations.
BALTIMORE – A customized mobile command post built by LDV, Inc., has been delivered for use by the State of Maryland Transportation Authority. It will be the centerpiece of LDV’s booth at this year’s Government Security Expo and Conference scheduled to take place at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center Apr. 26-27. The command center will be utilized for disaster event coordination and communications, as well as planned crowd control situations. The unit is powered by a Freightliner M2 with a Caterpillar C7 300 HP diesel engine, an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission, and it has a 54,000-lb. GVWR. The command post has five 20-inch LCD TV monitors, one 42-inch plasma TV with electronic overlay, four 17-inch LCD monitors, and one 15-inch LCD TV monitor. These are capable of receiving digital satellite TV, closed circuit video from multiple cameras and DVD/VHS recorders, and local off-air and cable TV stations. The unit is equipped with multiple expandable electronic racks that contain one 32 x 32 computer-controlled audio/video router. A radio interoperability system is connected to various VHF, UHF, and 800 MHz radios and a microwave audio/video downlink system capable of receiving audio and video from a helicopter. It also contains a 24-port computer network switch, server, cellular and satellite computer modems, and a radio antenna patch panel. A certified CAT5 computer network allows connectivity for operators at five workstations and various other interior and exterior connection points. The vehicle has a PBX phone system capable of accepting multiple land, cellular, and satellite telephones.
