Nominations for the 2017 Public Fleet Hall of Fame are now being accepted and are due end of day Wednesday, March 15. The award, produced by Government Fleet magazine and the American Public Works Association (APWA), is sponsored by the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA).
Government Fleet’s Public Fleet Hall of Fame members are recognized industry leaders and pioneers who have contributed to the public fleet management profession. Eligible nominees must have at least 20 years of experience in the public fleet management profession. At least 10 of these years must have been spent working for a public fleet or a private company contracted to manage a public fleet.
Nominees do not have to be currently working in a public fleet to be nominated. Self nominations are accepted.
The Public Fleet Hall of Fame honorees will be chosen by a combination of industry professionals via an online ballot and Government Fleet staff. It was established in 2014 with 10 founding members. Eight fleet veterans were inducted in 2015, six in 2016, and this year, four will be included. Of all the Hall of Fame inductees, one exceptional fleet professional will be chosen to receive the Legendary Lifetime Achievement Award, also sponsored by NJPA.
The recipients of these awards will be recognized at The Honors Celebration during the Government Fleet Expo & Conference (GFX), which will take place in San Antonio June 12-15.
