The Bartholomew County Council in Indiana approved a $6 million bond for a new highway garage. Currently, county vehicles are maintained at a 66-year-old facility with single-axle-truck bays, though many county vehicles have tandem axles. It sits on a five-acre property. According to Local News Digital, the new garage would be on an 11-acre property.
Earlier this month, county commissioners proposed issuing $8 million in bonds to fund the new garage. This was rejected due to the high price tag, reports The Republic, and a new proposal for $6 million was brought to the county council’s meeting this week.
