The City of Springfield, Ill., has awarded a $370,000 contract to convert a former concrete wall factory into a joint maintenance facility for city fleet vehicles from various departments.
Once R.L. Vollintine Construction begins work in early January, the facility should be completed in 90 days. The contract includes upgrades for drainage, electrical and exhaust systems, and a sprinkler system to the 28,000-square-foot former Super Walls factory at Capitol Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive.
