TORRANCE, CA – The Government Fleet Expo and Conference held at San Diego’s Town and Country Resort and Convention Center on June 8-10 drew in over 350 fleet managers and individuals involved with the fleet management industry.

Highlights included:

  • Touring the San Diego County Fleet Facility and interacting with the 2007 Public Sector Fleet Manger of the Year, John Clements.

  • Learning about breakthrough ideas to implement from over 30 expert speakers.

  • Showcasing of fleet management products and networking with vendors.

  • Gaining insight from presenters on topics such as: Going green, Right-sizing Your Fleet, Developing and Managing a Fleet Business Plan and Budget, Fuel Cost Reduction Strategies and more.

  • Obtaining training during user group meetings from fleet software providers such as FASTER, INVERS, and MAXIMUS.

Chuck Forman, sr. facilities and fleet services supervisor for the Orange County Sanitation District said, “The conference was a success for me. I learned new methods and ideas regarding managing the fleet. Working with only individuals who were in the fleet industry was very beneficial in both time and knowledge learned. I joined a new association (MEMA) and met new contacts. The sessions were helpful with providing real solutions to some of the issues I am currently facing.”

Stephen Kibler, fleet manager for the City of Loveland, Co. said, “GFX conference sessions addressed exactly what I needed to know as an internal service division of a Government Municipality. For example: What are KPI's for like-fleets; How my fleet measures up; How to sell new technologies to upper management; How colleagues solve like-problems such as green technology infrastructure. More importantly, what isn't working and why.”

“One of the most focused and efficient government fleet events I have ever attended! I returned home with 3 pages of ideas and contacts," said Richard Battersby, fleet manager for Contra Costa County.
