EPA Certifies Bi-Fuel Propane Autogas Police Vehicles

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has certified a trio of police vehicles to operate with bi-fuel propane autogas fueling systems provided by Alliance AutoGas, the vehicle modifier has announced.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has certified a trio of police vehicles to operate with bi-fuel propane autogas fueling systems provided by Alliance AutoGas, the vehicle modifier has announced.

The Ford Police Interceptor sedan, Ford P.I. Utility, and Dodge Charger vehicles from several model years can now operate on the alternative-fuel platform. Eligible vehicles include the P.I. sedan with the 3.5-liter V-6 from model years 2013-2015; P.I. Utility with the 3.5-liter or 3.7-liter V-6 for 2013-2016; Dodge Charger with 3.6-liter V-6 for 2015; and the Dodge Charger with the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 from 2013-2015.

The certifications were secured by Blossman Services, Inc., the equipment distributor for Alliance AutoGas.

Alliance consults with fleets and converts existing vehicles without voiding the manufacturer warranties. Alliance can also builds a fueling station where the fleet is based at no upfront cost and provides a guaranteed fuel supply going forward. Alliance additionally provides fleet management software integration; training and full support in the form of safely training, warranties on conversions, and advise on green branding opportunities.

Alliance AutoGas has converted more than 7,400 vehicles to run on propane autogas. In 2014 alone, Alliance members collectively displaced 32 million gallons of gasoline and produced $45 million in fuel cost savings for the 460 fleets they service, according to the company.
