The Culpeper Police Department announced a new design for its police vehicle fleet following a department-wide initiative focused on reflecting the agency’s identity and the community it serves.
Over several months, employees across the department were invited to submit design ideas. Two submissions advanced to a final stage, and both sworn and civilian personnel provided input before a final design was selected. Rozwaduckie Design LLC, a local graphics design business, assisted with final design details.
The selected design, created by Officer Ashley Sain, features elements inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains.
“I’m very grateful to the Culpeper Police Department for giving employees the opportunity to submit design ideas,” Sain said. “When I think about Culpeper and what symbolizes our town, my first thought is the Blue Ridge Mountains.”
Design Reflects Community and Department Identity
The design incorporates imagery of the Blue Ridge Mountains, representing the region’s geography and community identity. It also includes the department’s uniform patch, which features the original Coat of Arms of Lord Culpeper, along with an American flag displayed on the rear window.
The Culpeper Police Department was established in 1956 and has updated its vehicle design several times over the past 70 years. The previous design was introduced in 2011.
Newly budgeted police vehicles for 2026 have begun receiving the updated markings, with the design to be implemented across the fleet as vehicles are replaced or updated.
“This new design reflects both who we are as a police department and the community we serve,” said Chief Chris Settle. “Our employees played a direct role in creating and selecting this design, which makes it especially meaningful.”
The department said it will continue rolling out the new design across its fleet in the coming months.
