Battersby Named Oakland Fleet Manager
Richard Battersby, CAFM, CPFP, has been named the new equipment services manager for the City of Oakland, Calif. He currently serves as director of Fleet Services for the University of California, Davis.


Richard Battersby, CAFM, CPFP, has been named the new equipment services manager for the City of Oakland, Calif. He currently serves as director of Fleet Services for the University of California, Davis, where he has worked for five years. His last day is May 23.
At UC Davis, Battersby oversees a fleet of 1,400 vehicles. Oakland’s fleet consists of 1,500 units.
Battersby replaces Ken Bailey, who recently became the vehicle maintenance manager for Community Transit in Everett, Wash.
Battersby has more than 25 years of experience in fleet management, in both the public and private sectors. He was the 2013 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year. One of his most significant accomplishments at UC Davis was leading the effort to correct an operating deficit of $800,000 over three years.
David Franklin, currently asset and operations manager for the UC Davis fleet, will serve as interim fleet director.
