A Christmas Eve fire destroyed a large part of the Department of Public Works building in Irondequoit, New York, in addition to ten plow trucks. The damage will likely result in a multi-million dollar claim, according to the Irondequoit Post.
More than 100 firefighters battled the fire. Part of the building was saved and two-thirds of the DPW's fleet of snow plow vehicles were left unharmed. The Irondequoit Post reported that the town has received snow plow loans from nearby towns and cities and DPW operations will be moved to a local library. The cause of the Christmas Eve fire is still under investigation.
