Terramac’s newest rubber track crawler carrier model, the RT14R, features a rugged upper frame that rotates a full 360 degrees — a major advantage for the most challenging jobsites.

Operators are better equipped to tackle sensitive and confined jobsites because the crawler carrier can offload materials at any angle. Manufactured in the U.S., the Terramac RT14R can carry and dump up to 28,000 lbs. of material at any position — even while driving.

This rotational functionality allows the RT14R to offload materials faster than a standard straight frame unit since the tracks don’t need to be counter-rotated to drive another direction.

The 40,000-lb. machine is powered by a QSL9.0 320-hp Tier 4 Final Cummins diesel engine (non-diesel particulate filter) that boosts jobsite productivity while remaining fuel-efficient — regardless of the application, the company said.

Faster Loading and Unloading

“With its ability to load and unload material at a faster rate than a traditional straight frame dumping unit, the Terramac RT14R will help public works departments save money,” said Monica Coenen, marketing manager for Terramac. “Spreading material has never been more efficient. The RT14R is capable of gradually unloading material as it drives, which reduces the amount of manual labor needed to spread rocks, dirt, or other material being hauled.”

Moreover, the Terramac RT14R is particularly well suited for public utility work in environmentally sensitive and confined areas, such as railroad right-of-way easements and levees. Other common applications include general earthmoving and site prep.

“Environmental damage and restoration costs are also minimized as the RT14R dumps material without tearing up the surrounding ground,” Coenen explained. “And since the RT14R’s upper structure can spin, track wear is significantly less, resulting in less maintenance and extended track life.”

The new unit showcases Terramac’s rubber track technology. A minimal 7.9-psi ground pressure, while fully loaded, allows the RT14R to conquer soft or wet conditions and mountainous terrain.

“Rubber track technology offers low ground pressure, which is ideal for sensitive ground conditions — especially loose and wet terrain where heavy, wheeled machines are likely to get stuck,” said Matt Slater, director of sales for Terramac. “The flotation from the rubber tracks not only allows the machine to work in adverse ground and weather conditions, but also allows for faster climbing on mountainous and hilly terrains with reduced slippage.”

Improved Jobsite Safety

The RT14R enhances jobsite safety by eliminating the amount of time an operator spends driving in reverse. The model also offers a rollover protective structure and falling object protective structure.

Additional features include a wide-access door for easy entry and exit, windows on all sides, and a large mirror for better operator visibility. A multi-function joystick with dump controls provides easy operation. A touchscreen Parker IQAN-MD4 control system also offers full graphical, diagnostic, and controller area network (CAN J-1939) gateway capability.

A tilt hood on top of the engine enclosure provides access to the engine bay, and a rear cab enclosure for fluid and filter checks makes routine maintenance quick and simple, the company stated.
