GFX: Presenting Solutions for Today's Fleet Challenges
Scheduled June 8-10 in Denver, the GFX agenda includes keynote addresses on fuel pricing and customer service, subject-matter expert presentations, roundtable discussions, certification testing, and networking opportunities.

The 2009 Government Fleet Expo & Conference (GFX), scheduled June 8-10 in Denver, aims to cover the crucial issues and offer new solutions to the challenges facing public sector fleets, according to organizers.
Presented by Government Fleet magazine at the Crowne Plaza Denver International Airport Convention Center, GFX 2009 will feature an array of concurrent sessions and panel discussions on reducing costs and improving fleet operations in:
Fuel.
Maintenance.
Vehicle and equipment lifecycles.
Personal use/take-home vehicles.
Technician training.
Asset tracking/management.
Communication and leadership.
Driver safety.
Conference sponsors include Asset Works, Ford Motor Company, and
INVERS.
Event partners include the Association of Equipment Management Professionals, American Public Works Association (APWA), Automotive Service Excellence, California County Fleet Managers Association, Clean Cities, National Conference of State Fleet Administrators, Rocky Mountain Fleet Management Association, and Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association.
Keynoters Address Customer Service & Fuel
Two GFX keynote speakers will tackle critical elements in public sector fleet management: customer service and fuel pricing.
An expert in customer service issues, particularly in public sector agencies, Greg Gray will present “Desperately Seeking Service: Getting Your Organization to Look Beyond Satisfaction.” Gray will use real-world examples to explore customer service interactions and highlight common reasons why agencies lose customers.
“Demystifying Fuel Pricing” is the topic of Scott Berhang’s GFX keynote presentation. Director of education and corporate training for OPIS, the international petroleum pricing information resource, Berhang will discuss strategies to manage fleet fuel spend in the current volatile fuel market. He will also moderate a roundtable discussion addressing conference attendees’ specific questions.
Green Fleet Facility Tour Offered
Another 2009 GFX highlight will be a networking reception and tour at the Denver City and County fleet facility, hosted by Denver Fleet Director Ernie Ivy and his staff. The Denver Fleet Division has been recognized for environmental and fuel cost-saving efforts, including a fuel lock program, alternative-fuel use, and hybrid vehicle acquisitions.
Other conference activities include testing for the NAFA Certified Automotive Fleet Manager and APWA Certified Public Fleet Professional designations.
The GFX Expo will feature product and services providers specific to public sector fleet management. In addition, FASTER, MAXIMUS, and INVERS have scheduled user seminars June 11, the day following GFX.
