Exclusive Industry Survey: Public Sector Fleet Manager Salaries Average $74,693 in 2008
Are you paid enough? In 2008, public sector fleet manager salaries increased more than $4,200 over 2007 figures. By region, fleet managers in the West continue to pull in the highest salaries.

How does your salary stack up against other public sector fleet managers? Government Fleet takes an exclusive industry look at all aspects of public sector fleet manager salaries in its 2nd annual salary survey. Find out what factors impact salaries including education, age, gender, experience, number of employees managed, and more.
According to study findings, the average public sector fleet manager is male, between the ages of 51-60, has more than 20 years experience, and manages 501-1,000 vehicles. According to the survey, fleet managers are responsible for several important areas in fleet operations, notably budgeting and vehicle acquisition and disposal.
When reviewing salaries across U.S. regions, fleet managers in the West earned the highest salaries at $90,735, with the Middle Atlantic region second with $80,750.
More than 200 public sector fleet managers responded to this year’s online survey. Data on the next several pages is displayed in two formats. Pie charts depict the percentage of responses to a particular question. Bar graphs represent the average salaries of the respondents related to the specific question.
