Doosan Infracore North America has expanded its mini excavator lineup with the new DX62R-3. The DX62R-3 builds on the existing model lineup by adjusting the positioning of the excavator upper structure to the undercarriage to reduce tail swing length.
Reduced Tail Swing Sets Excavator Apart
With just 4.9 inches of side overhang, the reduced-tail-swing configuration sets it apart from other mini excavators available in the 6-metric-ton size class, providing increased maneuverability and accessibility for excavation work in limited spaces.
According to Aaron Kleingartner, product and dealer marketing manager for Doosan Infracore North America, customers working in tight areas or on established surfaces will appreciate the reduced-tail-swing configuration and the machine’s rubber tracks.
“Mini excavators have become more common in federal, state, and local government municipality fleets because of their compact size and versatility. Previously, backhoe loaders were more common for everyday excavating and grading tasks,” he said.
The compact excavator is ideal for residential construction, landscaping, utilities, or any other crowded jobsite. Moving the swing center forward extends the machine’s digging reach by 11 inches while maintaining the desired machine balance. Reduced tail swing machines also require less repositioning when operating, which helps the operator work more efficiently.
User-Friendly Features
The DX62R-3 features a standard Auto-Shift when moving, allowing users to automatically shift out of high or low range so they can focus on direction and speed.
Users can also monitor important diagnostic information on the color panel, including fuel level, coolant temperature, day/time, throttle position, and engine rpm. Auxiliary hydraulic flow modes and rates can be easily selected right from the screen.
Other highlights of the new model include a password-protected display panel that limits access to the startup, as well as a 12-volt power supply to keep cell phones charged.
