Vac-Tron Equipment is recalling certain 2016-2020 LP SDT trailers. An estimated 1,822 units are affected by this recall. The LP SDT series is Vac-Tron’s top-selling High CFM Diesel trailer.

These trailers may be missing various exterior lighting and reflective markings, and therefore fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.” This lack of exterior lighting and reflective markings may reduce the trailer’s visibility to other drivers on the road, increasing the risk of a crash.

According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the trailers are missing front-side marker lamps, front-width clearance lamps, front-side reflex reflectors, rear upper body marking, rear-side marker lamps, rear-side reflex reflectors, and rear reflex reflectors placed at trailer’s widest point. In addition, conspicuity tape does not meet length requirements of the side of the trailer.

The remedy for this recall is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.
