The South Carolina Highway Patrol will add two helicopters to its fleet as part of a new aviation unit, following the pattern of neighboring states’ aviation programs, WTOC reported.

The two new helicopters, which will be provided by the military free of charge, will assist in public safety. They can also be used for bike weeks, assisting with high speed chases, amber alerts, and during severe weather events.
