Ford is recalling 410,289 of its 2015 to 2019 F-150 and 2017 to 2019 Super Duty trucks equipped with an engine block heater, due to a possible defect with a cable connector, the company has announced.
The recall affects the F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks, in addition to the F-150.
Trucks equipped with an engine block heater may have a defect with the heater cable's splice connector, which can cause corrosion and damage. Prolonged corrosion could cause a resistive short, which increases the risk of overheated or melted wiring and a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and delars will inspect and seal the block heater cable or replace it at no charge. The recall is expected to begin Jan. 7. Owners can contact Ford's customer service at 866-436-7332. The recall number is 18S45.
