YORK, PA – The York County Parks Department has made the switch to using a combination of diesel and vegetable-based fuel in its tractors, mowers, and service trucks, according to the York Daily Record. The department decided to go with biodiesel fuel after doing research and consulting with Rabbittransit and the City of York, which has been using the blend in some or all of its vehicles. Tom Brant, executive director of the parks department, said he received good feedback about the clean-burning fuel. While not saving any money, officials are being more sensitive to the environment. The department typically uses 5,000 gallons of fuel a year, the report said.
