The City of Madison, Wis., has hired Mahanth Joishy as fleet superintendent, replacing recently retired Bill Vanderbrook. Joishy has spent the past 16 years in New York City, working at the city's Department of Citywide Administrative Services and NYC Parks. His first day will be July 31.
At NYC Parks, Joishy helped manage vehicle repair, collision tracking, waste collection, recycling, employee awards programs, sign production, and citywide emergency response. He helped create the city’s Parks Field Operations Manual, and launched the NYC Parks Greeter Corps volunteer program.
Since 2012, Joishy has overseen the safety program for the New York City fleet. He worked on the city's response to Hurricane Sandy, dealing with a regional fueling crisis and the handling of thousands of flooded boats and vehicles. Joishy was also a lead on the New York City Vision Zero task force to reduce fatalities and injuries on the road. He has done extensive work on vehicle safety technology and training, as well as outreach with private and nonprofit fleets.
