Preston County, W.V. is moving toward leasing its vehicles rather than purchasing them in order to reduce its fleet, decrease insurance costs, and replace its aged vehicles, the Preston County News & Journal reported.
The county has 57 vehicles. Vehicles are often kept beyond their lifecycle, and the leasing agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management will allow the county to put drivers in safer, more efficient vehicles, one the county commissioners said.
County Commission documents show that the county will begin leasing eight vehicles through an open-ended lease: five Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles and three additional SUVs. The Police Interceptors do not come with a full maintenance package, while the SUVs will have a maintenance package, excluding tires and brakes.
